It is our Prime Objective to get our public to Adopt a Soldier Today
Hello and welcome to OSA, I wish to make a quick statement here, I want to make it clear, Joining the U.S. Military IS honorable, and if called to war, these men and women are always ready to defend our country and our freedom. Which means they deserve our support! Though our name is Operation Soldier Assist, we support all branches of the military including the Coast Guard. Yes the Coast Guard is now under Homeland Security, however they have fought in Iraq, and in Afghanistan.
So with that said... I started our adopt-a-soldier program 11 years ago. I figured that we could help more troops get adopted if I created a site and had more exposure for OSA. We often get letters from out troops requesting support, because government hired contractors are charging way to much at the base stores. Sometimes just because of a poor stock of supplies, such was the case at the Afghanistan border. Supply trucks could not always get through, do to border closures.
Some troops just want to have a person to write to and visit with. Though they don't always have time to email and unless they are at a F.O.B. (forward operating base), they may not have access to a computer to email their supporters. Most all of out troops need some sort of help with the following items: personal hygiene items, snacks, books, magazines, you might send them some Cd's, to listen too or DVD's, so they can watch a movie and relax. Some ouf you may be able to aford to send a new pair of boots, and new uniforms items. I know some people may feel that boots and new uniform items are over the top, they're NOT. A uniform allowance is given to military personnel. However, quite often the troops forfeit many normal needs to cover their uniform costs. However most of them send their pay home to support their families. Please consider helping, you will enjoy visiting with the soldier you adopt and will encourage them greatly with your support.
If you choose to join us in the adopt-a-soldier program, I need to make this clear, this is NOT a dating service, you are not joining this program to find your soul mate. This is a serious commitment for the duration of your soldiers deployment. We will NOT tolerate inappropriate behavior. The troops don't need the added stress.
Now with all that out of the way, the above mentioned items are just examples, you decide how you will support the soldier you adopt. We just ask you to put yourself in their place, and think of what you would like if you were the one deployed. Thanks again for visiting us and please tell your friends about SoldierAssist.com. If you wish to adopt a soldier, use this link. One more thing, many adopt-a-soldier groups charge a fee or they require you to purchase support items from them. We do NOT AGREE with this practice and we NEVER charge you anything, we just ask that you join the program and support our toops.
Finally, Jesus said: "For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ 37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ Matt 25: 35-40 NLT

First, we are adding more information to support services that is beneficial to our active and veteran personnel. Second we are also building the Bunker a recording studio for both our local Kansas active personnel, and our veterans. The Bunker will serve our active personnel and our veterans within 3 years post military service (with a DD 214 form to show honorable discharge). There will be NO charge for them to use the studio and record their music. The general public however will be charged standard studio fees.
